The Government of Canada is soon going to launch a new financial assistance program called Canada Disability Benefit (CDB). The purpose of this scheme is to provide assistance of up to $200 per month to those Canadian citizens aged 18 to 64 years, who are suffering from some disability and who already have Disability Tax Credit (DTC) approved.
This assistance is being brought especially for those people who are of working age, but whose income is very low and who are not able to take full advantage of the existing government schemes.
What is Canada Disability Benefit?
Canada Disability Benefit (CDB) is a new national program launched under the Canada Disability Benefit Act passed in June 2023. Its main objective is to lift those people with disabilities out of poverty who are still struggling to make ends meet.
Although there are many other schemes in Canada like CPP Disability, ODSP (Ontario), or AISH (Alberta), but despite this many people are not able to meet the basic needs of life. With this new benefit, the government is trying to fill this gap.
