TripAdvisor analyzed its “vacation home interest” from people outside of the United States for the months of December, January and February, 2014-2015. Stowe was the number 11 most looked-at destination.
You’re not the only one hitting the slopes this winter. America’s top ski resorts are preparing for another snow season, hoping that Mother Nature delivers the goods.
So it makes sense that vacationers are starting to plan their winter escapes. After all, nothing brings a family or group of friends together like renting a cozy ski house directly on the mountain. Ski-in/ski-out perhaps? Or maybe nearby so you get the best of the trails and the town, without worrying about that long, damp drive home after a day of shredding. Having a comfortable home base close to, or on, the slopes means you can be the first one there and last to leave. Beat the chairlift lines? Sign us up. And you’ll save hundreds compared to a hotel. Not only are rentals up to 60 percent more affordable, but you’ll also be able to cook your own group meals (no eating out all week) and have more living space for hanging out. Snuggle up to the fireplace, enjoy a game night, or stargaze off the outdoor patio with a nightcap.
It’s those exact benefits that have travelers from all over the world flocking to the vacation rentals in America’s best ski destinations. TripAdvisor Vacation Rentals analyzed U.S. vacation home interest from international travelers, for the months of December through February. Only guests coming from outside the United States were factored. We then identified the 21 ski destinations that were most popular among foreign vacationers. There aren’t too many “hidden gems” here, as many of the known staples are on the list. But some of the visiting countries represented are fascinating.
