Stowe Ranked Top 20 Small Town

Why do we love our small town? History, recreation, music and a localvore food culture are just a few of the accolades Stowe received in “The 20 Best Small Towns to Visit in 2015” list from Smithsonian Magazine!

The fourth annual version of the Smithsonian’s list ranks small towns (those with a population under 20,000) according to their “number of cultural attractions, historical sites, nature opportunities and food-and-drink destinations.”

Stowe garnered the No. 18 spot for musical theater history at the Trapp Family Lodge (with skiing and beer, too), diverse performances at the Spruce Peak Performing Arts Center and exhibits at the Helen Day Arts Center (including the upcoming Exposed!). Residents and visitors to the area know they have both the natural beauty of mountains and rivers and an exceptional array of artistic beauty out their doors.

Stowe offers some of the best skiing in New England, as well as charm, history, great dining and shopping. Our Main Street has a quaint charm and an abundance of shops and eating establishments. Whether you are on a budget or want to soak in luxury, you can find your niche in Stowe.

Among others on the “20 Best Small Towns” list were Estes Park, Colorado; Vernal, Utah; Whitefish, Montana; and Nashville, Indiana. Stowe is honored to be included with these other outstanding towns!
